Who saw the 2001 movie "The Day After Tomorrow"?

Sandy's size and impact associated with the cold front and jet stream remind me of what I saw happen to NYC in that movie

Any reports on wave action along the coast?

My mom lives in Norwalk and has a cousin who lives on the Milford shore. The cousin has reported coastal street flooding today. My mom also said that there's already some flooding on the beaches in Norwalk.

With the combination of Sandy, cold front, and polar jet stream, how much will this have to do with the winter forecast?

Hi,

Well .... "SANDY" has made her turn to the NNW plus accelerated her forward speed.

My friend at the NWS sent me an e-mail (1 hour ago) saying that, if she holds this course, she'll make landfall and hit the coast like a wrecking ball, what with max sustained winds of 85 mph.

Not Good Exclamation

Stay Safe !

Hi,

As of 1:10 PM got an e-mail from my friend at NWS....."SANDY" has increased sustained wind speeds to 90+ mph or Cat. 2 Hurricane winds
.
We both agree that forward speed will likely increase significantly from present 18 mph.

This will result in a wrecking ball effect on the coast lines.

Stay Safe All Exclamation

Still have power at my place and have been watching those 50+mph gusts outside with lights flickering inside.

Also watching live updates on weather.com and keeping track of winds coming from the Bridgeport Harbor buoy.

Storm surge of 8.6 feet reported in Bridgeport.

Also listening to the BFD online and hearing tons of reports of trees down, power lines down, electric tree fire, and now the entire areas from South End to Capitol Ave without power.

UI has stopped taking calls for now.

Record storm surge water levels reported throughout NJ and Battery Park.

Sandy broke the record for lowest pressure to make landfall in the Northeast.

9.7 foot storm surge reported in Bridgeport recently
