After hearing word about gators and keepers being caught on a variety of plugs, topwaters, and bait in Black Rock Harbor and the upper channel area, I headed over to Cedar Creek by Santa Fuel station on the South End side. Arrived around 3:45pm.

Lures I threw with my medium action surf setup were mullet Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-12, pearl gray shiner Flat Rap FLR-16, flake purple ghost Max Rap MXR-15, olive green Bomber Jointed Long A Mag, bunker X-Rap Jointed Shad XJS-13, chrome purple black Max Rap MXR-15, purpledescent Clackin Rap CNR-8, silver Clackin Minnow CNM-11, and croaker Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-12.

I only had 1 follower which was a bigger taylor or a harbor cocktail chasing the Flat Rap. Other fishermen weren't into anything with chunks, live bunker, and plugs even before I got there.

Around 5pm I left and headed over to the Seaside Park boat ramp facing Black Rock Harbor. Played around for no more than a half an hour with the FLR-16 and SSP-12. Got an explosion on the SSP-12 by what seemed to be a striper tail swipe.

Headed over to the Fayerweather Island jetty and played topwater for a while facing towards the sandy flats by the beach. Had a total of 4 explosions with 1 being a schoolie jumping out on the hook set and the others being tail swipes by some bigger stripers.

Switched over to the Flat Rap and caught 2 sea robins. Casted the Clackin Rap out there and caught another 2 sea robins.

While still at the jetty I saw a quick blitz that lasted for no more than 30 seconds. Saw what seemed to be either a thick school of adult bunker come jumping out of the water or large snappers chasing minnows. It happened right against the rocks of the jetty where there's a curved bay area.

Once it was sunset and almost last light, I headed over to check and see if anybody was at Remington.

Saw 1 car parked and knew who it was so I walked over. When I'm almost to the spot, I see the man leaving from fishing. Asked him how he was doing and said he was into topwater taylors and schoolies and they were still there. I saw the breaks on the surface but couldn't get to them with my heavier Skitter Pops. Tried casting with a few other lures to see if I could get better distance but didn't.

Hit the road around 7pm

i would use somthing like in my avatar. ive caught 7 keepers this year on those and bucktails. not to mention how slow this year has been. just shows how well they work. also gators love them. earlier in the sping was nailing them. try it out. their expensive but well worth the money

i usually use the gibbs danny swimmer stripedhunter. 6 in i think its 2.5 ounce you can also try a tsunami metal lip swimmer which are a bit cheaper

i know what a danny is tryhard dude. i know that not one single lure in that pic is a danny. and if im correct, i recall saying LIKE one of those in my avatar. keyword:LIKE. i make my own metal lip swimmers and i know that they work very very well. i know that pencils are the ticket this year but cant i just give a friendly suggestion without someone being an a$$? guess not.... Mad
