Well I hit the River yesterday morning looking for an Atlantic Salmon. Ten minutes I hooked him. He breached once and I got a good look at him. About a 24" fish. Then it began.........he tore upsptram pulling drag off my reel with very little effort. I fought him for about 2 minutes and then decided I would adjust my drag............he broke off. Very Disappointed! I did see a 20" Atlantic get landed, and I saw a fly guy lose one as well. Salmon season has begun.

I was home from school this weekend and I drove by the river with my girlfriend and told her "There's 200 salmon waiting to be caught swimming around in there!" Needless to say, she was not impressed and I couldn't get out. Good luck to you, I hope you're able to get a few of them!

This was two years ago. In another month or so they will put the big salmon in there, which is when I will give it a shot. I am not much of a river fisherman but with the naugy being in my backyard I always give it a shot.

This is from the DEP report: This first group of broodstock Atlantic salmon being released range in weight from 2-6 pounds each. Later in October, several hundred additional fish may also be available for stocking. These fish will range from 2 to 15 pounds each. Following spawning later this fall, DEEP expects an additional 800-1,000 salmon from the Kensington Hatchery will be available for stocking in November. These fish will range in weight from 4 to 15 pounds each.

Hi,

Regulations on Atlantic Salmon are listed in "The Ct. Anglers Guide".

Right now all AS in rivers is Catch and Release and only very specific gear is allowed to hook them.

Lake stocked AS have different regs. and you can keep them.

That's what I thought about the river AS.....I'm going to have to pick up a new angler's guide, can't find my old one.

Hi Jeff,

You can read/download the 2012 "Angler's Guide" here on the forum.
Top of main page -> Click on "Ct Fishing" -> Click on Guide at the bottom.

Also on the DEEP web site a brief summary of regs. is posted in the Oct. 4th fishing report.

Best regards,

In the naugy no treble hooks only single hooks for inline spinners. I actually had a DEP officer stop me in BF once but I knew the rules so he was cool. They are out checking for that stuff now.
