Woke up at 9am to get out and fish some local water in Danbury. My friend suggest we go to a place we had not been in many years. So we went down the list of long since visited waters. East Lake Reservoir came up so we thought "Why not!" and fished off the rocks from around 10:30am to 2pm. Water had been drained a bit and the weeds were starting to wilt from the flash freeze like temps the night befor. The water wasnt very cold but very murky and dirty! After getting told by karma multipul times to leave (my friend broke his rod tip off and the weather was not exactly nice) and a slow 2 hours of no keepers. I decided to toss a jointed crankbait for a while. On about my fifth cast in I feel a huge weight but no struggle so I assume its weeds and give it a tug. My rod doubles over and my drag starts dinging. I have a fish finaly after hours of blah. I start fighting it and see a glimmer of its side. Its a big old large mouth. I get it up on to the rock I was standing on and im so shocked at how big he is so I string it and weight it up and measure it and such. Its 18 inches long and 2 and a half pounds. I turn to my friend who is awestruck and ask him to pull out his phone and get a picture. We snap a quick photo and go to rig him in the water by the stringer and my friend bends over and his phone pops right out of his pocket, smacks the rocks and slides right into the lake. After reaching in and getting it he popping the battery and tried to let it dry. When he thought it was dry enough he turned it on to a flash of white on the screen and it died. I would have had better photos but lakes are not friendly to cellphones. So Im stuck with this picture that does not do this fish justice.

Tell your friend to put his phone inside a bowl of dry rice if he has any, buried in the rice. The rice will suck out all the moisture if its not too late by the morning.

Nice catch, that bass has a pretty big mouth!

Or turn the microwave on for like 10 seconds then put the phone in AFTER and let the warm air dry it internally and externally.

How'd it taste? The biggest largemouth bass that I've eaten was only 16 inches long and weighed two pounds, and it was absolutely delicious. I've never considered keeping anything bigger.

@SAP - NEF: The phone was very old and some of the buttons didnt want to work anymore so he was already planning on getting a newer one. This just made it an easier decision but thank you for the advice/feedback!

@Peco: My dad absolutly loved it. He said "Best fish I've tasted out of Connecticut in ages! Get me another." I myself dont eat fish but I tried it and it was better then most ive tried in the past. I fish for fun mostly lol who doesnt. Also it feeds my family/friends. Most all are from reservoirs so they are cleaner then most! My dad works as a lab tech at a local water treatment plant. He tells me when the local reservoirs are treated or drawn down and what fish are being snagged in the pumps of pump houses. Laughing
