We hit the Thames River again on Wednesday looking for either blues or stripers. The wind forced us to seek shelter in Smith Cove. We motored into Smith Cove an hour or so before the tide turned - high to low. Nothing much happening inside the cove other than small schools of bunker breaking the surface. Snappers were the cause of the commotion. The blues were thick outside the railroad pilings; everything from snappers to two pounders. If a school of bunker foolishly swam by, the following feeding frenzy turned the water into a froth. The blues would then hit anything thrown in the water.

Maybe next week we will be able to fish the main river where the larger fish prowl. Does anyone know which tide is best for either blues or stripers?

I've been fishing in the Thames around the buoy 17 area have been catching alot of blues on the out going tide and just into the incoming tide. Went most of day yesterday had good look while tide was low about halfway to high tide the fishing totally feel off, not even any bites.
