Well to be honest.. it sucked. Got on the water at 6 and got many marks on my marcum lx-i. Drop shotted a minnow from 16-22 feet which was where the markings were and knew i had walleyes biting my minnow. They were really finicky. The little bites made it so when you set the hook itd feel like nothings there. They were either really smart, or really picky. I knew they were walleye cause when id bring my minnow to the top itd have 2 dots on its sides which were from the walleyes fangs. Also my hook had missing paint because of the teeth. I did manage to get a smallmouth and my dad got a smallmouth and had something that felt like a trout. Strangely, the bite slowed down once it got dark, i marked twice the fish during the day than at night. Also when i marked a fish at night, i wouldnt get a bite which was the opposite during the day. We got off the water at 9:15. Very strange fishing day id say. Tomorrow im going on my boat at candlewood for those big smallmouths. Ill report about those when im back! _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

Squantz is one of your traditional CT "hit or miss" places. Sometimes the fish can be right near you but they are being picky as for direction and angle even if you have the perfect bait or lure. |
