Took the day off of work to get some much needed sleep. After a lazy morning going through the fishing gear (12 rods and at least $200 worth of bait and tackle) I got from my grandmother the day before, I decided to drive out to Litchfield. I took my dog with me to show her what a bass looks like.

Got to the pond around 1400. Hit the lily pads with a 4" natural shad colored wacky rigged Senko, which always gets me hits at this tiny pond. Sure enough, had a HARD bite on my third cast. I was pretty sure this was a monster, she was fighting like hell. Had a very difficult time getting her back to me through the pads. After a few minutes fighting, I saw the fish, stuck on some pads about 10' out in about 1' of water. I ripped off my socks and shoes, then tried to get her unstuck without letting her get away. Soon after stripping down, I got her off the pads and reeled her in. She was only around 13", no clue about weight. Very typical for here, I've never caught or seen anything much bigger than that. I showed my dog and I think she was maybe a little scared of the thing! Fished for another hour before losing a nice frog in a tree and decided it was time to get some dinner in me.

I have been skunked my last two trips before this, so I was glad to get a fish. One is better than none!

This pond must get a lot of pressure, just because of ease of access. I don't mind, the woods are beautiful.

I have a few photos of the pond I took a few weeks ago, I'll try to post then when I'm on a computer.

When I first read your post, I thought you were trying to show your grandmother what a bass looks like! Laughing I'm sorry that your dog wasn't impressed. Wink
