High tide for Bridgeport was scheduled for 2:13pm so I headed down to Seaside Park and Remington. Today's conditions reminded me of a similar day last year in late September when the blues were thick. First stop was Remington around 12:15pm. Giving the snappers a break so was going for taylors, harbors, fluke, schoolies, and sea robins.

Lures I played around with included the original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10, spotted minnow Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10, olive green Clackin Minnow CNM-9, purpledescent Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9, croaker Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-9, flake blue sardine Max Rap MXR-11, flake purple ghost Max Rap MXR-15, shiner Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9, blue shad Rattlin Rapala RNR-7, and chrome Skitter Pop SP-9.

Nothing was happening at Remington except for people catching a few snappers. Snappers didn't seem as thick as they were last week and wasn't seeing any bait jumping out of the water.

Later headed over to the cannon and saw a few people there. Nobody was catching any snappers. I caught nothing. 1 man was throwing pieces of sandworms on the bottom and caught a fluke and was getting robbed.

Later I headed Downtown to grab a bite to eat and something to drink.

Went back to Remington for the last hour of daylight and never caught anything. One of the guys I always run into there was the lucky one. He caught a 4 or 5 pound taylor on a piece of chicken. Only saw 2 tiny porgies landed.

After getting my lucky original pearl shad Flat Rap stuck on a rock and line snapped, I hit the road around 7pm.

Looked at the water temp for the Bridgeport Harbor buoy when I got home and saw that it is still at 72. Nothing with bunker in the harbors. I'm currently waiting for the water temp to get to 70 and bunker make their way back into the harbors and Western Sound.

Went to Seaside park today with a couple of my buddies after reading your post. The weather was nice and their was no wave. It was our first time their so we figured we go fishing to the farthest part near the harbor were the breakwater rocks are. stayed for 2 hours nothing... Went to Silver Sands instead and caught 3 sea Robins and ZERO snappers. Was wondering if you could give us some tips where we could catch some bluefish. No clue where Remington and Canon?

The canon is a real canon from an early war over by the Barnum statue. It points straight out to the breakwater from shore. Remington the the abandoned factory at the Main St entrance.

Hey you should try penfield reef, try to get there at the rite timing other wise when the tide is low you will have to pretty much wade and fish.

Good luck

Penfield Reef isn't for chunkers.
