A 3.5lb bass is a nice fish up here. I hate taking pictures of fish myself, they always come out looking smaller because of perspective. |
After taking a look at a photo of the three pound, 14 ounce largemouth bass that I caught at Winchester Lake the other day, I'd change my guess to pushing five pounds. But who really cares? It was definitely a nice fish. |
JPell cares, he asked "any guesses on the weight?"
Its a nice fish. I am happy with anything over 3lbs. The fish in the pic looks healthy and fat. They must be eating again!
Its nice to know the actual weights of your best fish so you can just set the bar a little higher! Before I got my scale I estimated my best fish to be 5lbs. Then I caught a bigger one when I had my scale and it weighed 3.12 oz. I was adding about 1.5 pounds in my estimation and that seems to be a trend in bass fishermen |

Beautiful fish.
Im not even gonna try and guess the weight. There is no way to tell a fishes weight unless you actually weigh it..... with a digital scale. All the length girth calculations are never accurate.
I have caught fish that were the exact same length and girth but when put on the scale weighed different.
Plus, every single fish that i have ever caught... I thought was MUCH bigger until i put them on the scale. I pull a fish out.. predict its five pounds.. then weigh it to find out it's 3.
h aha ha.
Best example of this was when i was fishing one night with a friend of mine. A guy across the lake was screaming and screaming the he caught a monster. The guy actually drove his boat over to us to show us the fish. This guy went on to say that the bass was over 9 pounds.. He also told us that he caught two nine pounders the other day and this one was waaaay bigger than those two.
I took the fish and put it on my scale and it weighed 3.2 pounds. The guys faced turned bright red and he said my scale was wrong.. Then he left with the fish. Said he was gonna mount it.
I was like ... dude.. don't kill a 3 pound bass.. _________________ Got one!!! |

I've got a digital scale. Used it on my kids pinewood derby car. His car was three ounces over weight, and I thought I had an ounce to spare. Guess I can go back and increase every fish I ever weighed by 4 ounces. Yay me! _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.
