Had some time monday before a family picnic, so decided to try Winchester. Was on the water by 5:30 AM, but was not going into stump city in the dark, so started out in the cove on the west side. Thought there would be some top water action, but nothing happened. Once it got light, worked my way down the west side, casting to shallow shore cover and then out in the standing timber. Tried jigs, spinners, cranks and various plastics. All I got were 2 little 8 inch LM. Was ready to pack it in, but moved over to the east side and got my only decent fish of the day. A 4-7 LM off a sumerged stump in 5 FOW, on a tex posed creature bait. Why this stump, after having cast to hundreds of others, I don't know? So it wasn't a total bust. Water temp were around 72 F.
Went to take a pix with my camera, but the batteries were dead. OK just get the extra set. Then I remembered my son had "borrowed" them for his X-Box 360 game controllers. I was lucky to boat this hog, as he made a run under my boat, and I thought my line, 8 lb Yozuri Hybrid, would get cut on the edge of the gunnels.
Tight lines,
Tim |
