what's 'SOCO'?
i've been thinking about heading further East than where i normally fish. i've been as far as Bluff Point so might as well do the extra few miles. only problem is i'd want to daytime scout before i head there at night and getting out with the sun is difficult for me. anyone down for a Monday nighter? carpool? maybe i'll put it out to the general public for consideration. good luck and report back. itching to get my drag burned. |

SOCO streches from watch hill light to point judith, i fish the bewach ways, quanny and charlstown and the ponds they flow into, last 2 trips i have cautght dozens of blues, a few keeper bass, and tons of fluke both shorts and keepers. i also may fish watch light, east beach and mabey a couple of other rockey points that have been known to hold nice fish...deffinitly make the trek to RI wayyy more productive than anywhere in ct _________________ when is it a bad time to go fishing??....never |

cool, thanks for the insight. are you fishing during the days or nights? and how's parking down there? my only experiences with any of those places is hoards of vacationers and parking nightmares/$$$. post-Labor Day and back to school has got me rethinking traveling down there for an all-nighter sometime. i'd just have no clue where to start, though. |

i got out 3 times...i did okay cosidering i was only out at a prime time once, got a few blues up to 5 pounds and 4 short fluke, almost all the beeches are closed so u dont have to pay or be a resident to go there, i was in the middle of a full on snapper blitz but personal they piss me off esecialy when there is nothing big foling them. im back down this coming weekend and im fishing nights and very early morning this time as im with my uncle and we are directly on the water this time slightly west of misquamicutt beach, also we going to be fishing eels and darters...we r not f***ing around, never put my yak in the water even tho there were birds working in one of the ponds i was wading, probably harbor blues and snappers, so i just stuck to the shore...i have video of the snapper blitz but idk if if im gunna bother to put it up... _________________ when is it a bad time to go fishing??....never |

my friend's parents have a house in Weekapaug right off the breachway (where i caught my first ever fish in the Northeast back in 2008). might have to drag him down there for a day of fishing. otherwise, are you saying parking is free at the public beaches right now regardless of your plates?
BTW, if anyone wants to split a tank with me, i'll be happy to drive. i can even reinstall my rod rack up top so rod tips are taking anyone's eyes out. just not this weekend b/c it's my wife's birthday! |
