Couldn't drag myself up early enough to hit the river at dawn or head to the shore, so I threw my canoe in my local pond this morning as the bass fishing has been pretty good the past week or two. Fished for an hour and a half, and landed six nice fish.

My canoe ready to go.

First fish, a nice fat 19" bass that was wider than my 6" measuring board.

Last little one. All from one small area. I think I worked it pretty good. They were all returned to the water, so I can go out and catch them again another day.

Everything was caught on a dark watermellon Zoom frog. Love the frogs as you can fish them fast for a reaction strike (first fish), or just flip them on top of a pad, drop them off and just about dead stick them.

I've never gotten a hit on a non-moving frog. I've never had the patience to fish them that way. Wink

Weeds are dying off. Lots of small bait schools breaking in the evening, being chased by hungry bass. Will probably be throwing more baby shad as well. A small, weightless Bass Assassin shad or other similar body limping along near a school is pretty much irresistible at this point.
