Yesterday buddy Captain Mike Fillipino took me out on his boat for bluefish action. On the outgoing tide we headed out to Middleground. Mike wasn't going for the blues. He did it just for me.

Birds were working and we could see blues breaking on the surface. One issue we had was those stupid New Yorkers making too much noise with their boats which was scaring the fish.

First lure I threw out was the chrome Skitter Pop SP-9. I didn't get any explosions with it so I switched over to a croaker Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-9. That had the fish going. Landed a total of 6, lost about 6, and had lots of explosions. Biggest of the day was a 6 pound harbor blue.

Once the tide and current started changing, we headed out to Westport for clamming. Within 30 minutes we got a bucket full of clams ranging from just above keeper size to some monsters.

Mike Fillipino is a charter captain out of Orbit Marine in Black Rock. He can fit up to 4 passengers and charges $85 per passenger. His time line is from 7am til 1pm which includes riding the boat to get to the spot. He's not like the party boats where they take you to certain spots. You get to look for the birds, bait, and fish with him. If you don't find anything happening, then he takes you to a spot he knows will produce. He currently holds the state record fluke.

He doesn't care how many passengers are on his boat out of the number he can fit. You can go by yourself with him or bring another 1 to 3 people. $85 per passenger.

Look online for Orbit Marine on Fairfield Ave in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. The guy who runs the place knows Capt Mike.

Capt Mike recently did some work on his boat but can still get people out. He usually has his boat docked at South Benson Marina in Fairfield. Blackfish and fluke is another specialty he has. He currently holds the CT state record fluke.

Then take an inexpensive trip to Italy and do lots of research for his relatives. You'll see what those Napoli Sicilians are like amico!

85 bucks could feed more people than NYC! LOL
