Member GKolyak (Genna) and I hit the outgoing at the Reef Monday evening. Low tide for Bridgeport was scheduled for 8:07pm.

We walked more than half way out before casting and stuck with the Norwalk side most of the time cause we had a steady 10 to 15 mph ESE wind that was making the Bridgeport side rough.

Genna tried throwing an olive green Clackin Minnow CNM-9 and a blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10 with no luck. I tried throwing a chrome Flat Rap FLR-10, spotted minnow Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10, and flake blue Max Rap MXR-15 with no luck.

Later as we made our way farther out, we started playing topwater. 2 topwaters I tried were a purple shad X-Rap Walk XRW-9 and chrome Skitter Pop SP-9. Genna stuck with a chrome Skitter Pop SP-9.

I had 2 small hits on the XRW-9 by what were either curious stripers or small taylors. Genna had 1 small hit on the SP-9.

Then we saw a man throwing a topwater land a fish so we headed out in his direction. That's where Genna pretty soon landed a 22" schoolie with the SP-9. Later I reeled in a schoolie with the front treble hardly holding it and lost it when I went to grab it in front of me. Both of us continued getting explosions and I lost 2 other fish with 1 being a small taylor that spit the hook on the jump.

Once the bite died we started making our way back in and made 2 other stops before calling it a night around 8:15pm.

We didn't see or smell any bait on both sides. From the cycle of explosions we were getting it seemed like either the fish were scattered or small schools occasionally moving through. Conditions were favorable for the stripers cause of the overcast skies and cool air temps.
