Winter is on the way and its noticably getting dark earlier and stays dark longer in the mornings. So far we've lost about 2 1/2 hours of light sicnce the first day of summer and are currently losing about 2 mins. and 40 seconds of light each day. Summer seems to go by so quickly.

Yup Its depressing. For me however summer was/is a complete bust. Since mid June I have been hobbled by bad knees needing surgery but most of all I have a Bakers cyst in the back of my left knee which limits my mobility to a few hours in the morning. I've not used my boat , I've not been able to take my three grandkids fishing. My 94 year old father has been hospitalized twice in the last month. I'm not crying but just saying I'll be happy when this summer is gone. I'm glad I'm on this site as all the reports have helped fill my days. Thanks to all of you as I've enjoyed your posts and reports. Its almost like I was there myself. Come on fall!!!

Got my new shanty ready, augers tuned up, tip ups are good to go. Bring on the cold. I love new england for its four seasons. I want nice weather in the summer, cool nights in the fall, and a crap ton of snow and ice for winter. If i could ditch one it would be summer. give me fall and winter year round. Put on some extra undies and get out there. You might actually enjoy winter to. Its not for everyone.....but from what ive noticed the people that hate it are the ones sitting at home doing nothing waiting for spring to come. The ones that enjoy it are actually out doing things and embracing it.

knowfish........sorry to hear your having a rough time. We all go through it. Chin up, hang in there.

Spring and fall are the best times for fishing. Summer is when the weeds get thick and water is very warm. Prefer open water fishing than ice fishing, even though I enjoy ice fishing.

I agree ice fishing is fun but its not as fun as open water. I am actually hoping for a good winter because of last year.

Boy am i tired of summer. My favorite fishing seasons are definitaly spring and winter. Spring because its not hot but its not cold and the fish are starting to get really active this time of year. and winter because im more of a cold guy. I go snowboarding alot and ice fishing last year made me addicted to snowboarding because there was no ice to fish on. Im getting my friends into ice fishing and since i have tons of gear for icefishing we've decided i have to enter some jig and pigs or tournaments. I wanna win some stuff! BRING ON THE WINTER!!!

I'm more of a cold guy too who hates the summer heat and prefers the winter cold over the summer heat. I second about spring. Spring is when the fish are waking up and getting more active. Plus, spring is the most pleasant time of year in the outdoors, other than pollen blooms.

Weatherwise its been a tough summer with many days over 90 degrees. Fall is my favorite with plenty of cool nights for sleeping and clear crisp air to breath. I enjoy winter till about March when I'm itching for spring. March is without a doubt my most depressing month. Its raw, wet , windy and muddy. You can't really enjoy being outside until April rolls around.. I do miss the loss of daylight however , especially in the morning...I hate to get up in the dark.
