I went to bantam today. Plan was fish for a few hours then head home. I got to the launch around 10:30 and fished until 2ish. I started with a spinner bait and almost immediately hooked up with a pike. It was my pb best pike on a rod and it was 34in and weighed a little over 8lbs. After a couple pictures and measurement she swam away nicely. I then proceded to work the south shore and got a few more hits. Today was multiple species day for me. I landed one of each: pike, largemouth, yellow perch, calico, and pickerel. Nothing else compared to the first pike. The action seemed to get slower and slower later in the day so I packed it in at 2. My last few trips have produced some nice fish I hope I can keep this streak going!

Well done, still trying to get one with the damn camera in the boat. Very nice looking, healthy pike. How big a spinnerbait are you using? |

I was thinking the same thing Steve, you've been having some decent days out there. 1/4 ounce spinnerbait huh? So much for the "big bait for pike" thing LOL. Going out tonight to try again, cams already in the rod locker. |

Nice. Approaching fall means increasing pike! I'm happy to have no ice so I can fish them on open water all season. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

Sometimes downsizing your presentation is just the ticket, start big though, and if you dont get bitten try something smaller or completely different Beautiful colors on that pike! Congrats on the nice catch! -Dan |
