|

Hey everyone,
This is my first post, so here it goes. Got up early Saturday morning and decided to take my kayak down the Ct. River in the Portland area. Fishing was kind of slow although I did lose a few nice bass on topwater baits.
Then as I was trying to get a buzz bait loose from some weeds. I got a nice hit. It felt big and turned out to be a pike. I was surprised because the water was so warm. Not long after that, I was using a ribbit frog and saw somethjing following. I let the fish take it and brought in a decent size bowfin. My first ever.
Then on Sunday afternoon, I was able to sneak out so I took my little boat down to the river in the Haddam area.
I was throwing a spinner bait and was able to bring in another pike. Not long after that with the same spinner bait, I brought in another bowfin.
Maybe the Portland fish swam down to Haddam? I guess I'll never know.
I have a few pics but not sure how to load them.

Even headless, that's a sweet fish. Which one put up the better fight? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

They both put up a good fight and the pike made a nice jump out of the water,
but I think the bowfin outlasted the pike and fought longer. |
