After getting home from Seaside and cooling down, I headed over to Beardsley Park. Got to the spot where I caught that rock bass around 6pm.
First lure I threw was the brown trout Flat Rap FLR-6. Had a few hits but no hook sets. Switched over to the trusty glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6. Had that same retrieve going where I'd give it 1 to 3 jerks before pausing. Caught a bluegill and an 11" 10 ounce crappie. Had many hits too.
Later I moved downstream along the Pequonnock to weedy areas to try my new Scum Frog. Had 1 swirl with what was probably a shy and cautious largemouth that also tried to suck it in.
Next stop around 7:30pm was Glenwood Park. This time the bite was on good.
All with the HJ-6 I caught over 10 stripers up to 11", 4 crappie up to 7", 4 whites up to 6", 1 bluegill, and 4 largemouths up to 11" 13 ounces.
Had a fun time with most fish on my new Ugly Stick & Zebco Adventure combo.
Hit the road around 8:30pm. |

Hey, I loved my old Zebco spincaster! I have to admit, though, that I was thrilled when my daughter told me to buy her a spinning reel, instead of another spincaster. It was one of those "proud dad" moments. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
