I gotta tell you, I grew up in Seymour CT, and spent many a day at the river as a kid. That river was dead, dead, dead. Now, thirty years later, it has made an incredible comeback.
I was there on Monday 8/13/12, where I ran into and met fellow member Behuniak.
My son and I spent most of our time under the Bridge, across from BJ's on the Ansonia / Derby line.
We landed 4 Schoolies (between 8 and 12")......2 smallmouth bass (8" and 10") and a couple of White Perch.
It's a great place for a kid to fish, and I'm glad my son gets to enjoy it, which I could not possibly do, without getting sick, when I was his age.

That is a great sign for schoolies to be hanging out there for sure, keep it up with your son, it'll be worth it. |

It was nice meeting you and your son BF. I was down under the falls with a buddy tonight for maybe 2.5 hours and between us we pulled in between 30-35 total fish. Mostly SMB all under 11". However we caught about 4 trout, 8 sunnies, 1LMB, 2 Rock Bass, and 1 Yellow Perch. What a fun and great evening of fishing. We caught almost all of the fish on small rooster tails and lost maybe 25+ total fish as well. I am starting to love this river. _________________ The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. ~A.K. Best |
