Wow!!!
Today I was getting a hair cut at 11 am... wanted to head up 44 to winsted today...do some shore fishing from highland, the farmington at pleasant valley..etc etc.. Well, I'm on my way on 218 near capaco center in bloomfield and I suddenly didn't feel like going....I turned around and ended up checking out a little pond in southern manchester that I used to fish... spent about 10 minutes there and decided to leave....I was on camp meeting road in manchester heading east where it meets up with 85 and I stopped at tallwood country club... I fished there a couple of years ago with minimal success. So I parked accross the street at the entrance to the shooting range... and started to fish right at the watershed shed. second cast I caught a nice sized crappie... next cast was a little high and I almost caught the low hanging electrical wire!

I saw these rocks that kind of look like feet, maybe that's the reason they call it foot hill.. I don't know.... I got at the rocks around 2;15... got at the pond around 2pm..... I have a large bulky fishing box and didnt' feel like lugging it.. I usually carry a small utility box that comes with the large bulky box with a couple of lures in it.. today I didn't. I only had my rapala firetiger ssr.

the water there is a bit murky, even in direct sunlight I don't think I could see more than a foot deep. the rocks are about 10 feet away from shore and you can walk on all 3 of them with ease. You can also fish the shore parallel so you could fan 180 degrees! A shore fishermans dream i guess!! ha ha!

I looked up and saw the moon...during the day.. then got a hit... a nice bass...about 2 lbs...not very brown though...then boom another hit...another ... another.... there are some weeds in this pond , they kind of look like hydrillas... not the slimy ones.. so for about a half hour it was fish then weeds then fish then weeds.... I remembered reading some report about the best time to fish today was between 2:39 and 4:30... didn't think much of it until my cell phone rang at 2:45.. anyway.. between 2:30 and 3:30 I caught about 15 Bass!! it was amazing!! especially from shore!! biggest was about 2.5lbs and caught a couple tiny guys too!! At one point, I was casting under a tree overhang to the right of the right rock and got a hit... by 2 FISH!!! I had 2 Bass on my lure!!! I really didn't know what to do!! About 4 lbs of bass on my 6lb test!!!! one got off, and he took the front treble hook with him!! WTF!!!... the bite slowed down a bit, I sat down on the left rock that was under some shade now and caught a couple more, maybe around a pound or so.....I wish I had brought my utility box, I think my weedless topwater frog and a spinnerbait would have been awesome there!!!

I don't have a day off until monday and I am going to try an early morning or late evening treck there. What an amazing hour and half I had there!
I spoke with a couple of old timers that have been fishing there for years they said... we laughed as he said he was waiting for me to leave the rocks.. I told him I would have gladly shared. The other guy he was with said to keep walking to the other end next time...but the shore is very grown in....there are some whiteflotations in the water, like a practice track for rowing or something. When I go again, I will treck further around that side and try some other areas. There is an awesome patch of lilly pads but again, hard to access it from the shore. Can't wait til' I go there again!

Congrats on all the bass! Smaller lakes and ponds that hardly get any pressure produce the best.

I was there today for a bit, didn't realize you could water ski on it! I was only there for about a half hour, had one small follower. There was someone water skiing on it. Must be deeper than I originally thought.
