I agree with Ryanmalloy44 that fishing for largemouth bass deeper is much better that fishing for them shallow right now. But I also agree with Megaman that fishing deep from a kayak kinda sucks.

If I were you... I would buy that metal contraption withe the blades and the long rope that cuts weeds when you retrieve it. I saw a guy use one in Ball Pond and it did a great job! The weeds in his area from his dock were gone for quite a long time. I'm sure he had to do it a few times but it looked like it was worth it. You know you can afford one of em! You live in Ridgefield! ; )

i fish the weeds!
1- scum frogs over the top
2- spinner baits
3 - torpedos-jitterbugs-poppers etc!
wacky worms are great in the weeds - use a very small zip tie in the center of the worm |

| JUST A SUGGESTION---BE VERY CAREFUL clearing weeds if the weeds are Eurasian Watermilfoil and you chop them up YOU COULD BE instead of getting rid of them SPREADING THEM by the thousands - all it takes is one chopped up piece around an inch to multiply and spread! |

I also believe it will be better fishing just on top of the weed--just touching it.
A spinnerbait seems a good choice, it could shake some light weed off and a strike usually come at that moment. Experiment with the spinnerbait, counting the time after it getting into water. If you feel no weed after you retrieve, count some more time the next cast, until you find the right time your spinnerbait can just stay on top of the weed. Of course it is no guarantee that it is weedless everytime, but it should work, and it is no big deal picking off weeds from time to time. It is not fishing around a swiming pool after all.  |
