Started out around 3 AM with my brother in law and for the first 3 hours caught a rock bass on a spinnerbait....I was thinking that we were in for a long morning. Action picked up using a tube and drop shot. We picked up 10 or so smallies biggest being just under 3#'s, the others were all either a pound + or under. That happened in the next couple of hours between 6-8. Then it shut down again. We were fishing deep drop offs, but the big smallie was caught in 2 ft of water. we stayed there all to catch a couple of rock bass.
We then started concentrating on the weed lines using soft jerk baits. We ended up boating another 8-10 (all largemouth's) biggest 2 1/2 and then called it a day around 11 AM.
A tough day on a usually productive body of water.
Can't wait for this lake to turnover....then we'll see some big smallies. _________________ Fishing is much better than working! |
