Well it sure is coming down here in New Haven. Water levels should go up nicely for area bodies of water and the water temps might actually come down a bit. Will be interesting to see how this intense rain effects the fishing in the area. _________________ ~ Dan |

Any word on if areas around Manchester, Glastonbury, and Vernon were hit by the bow echo? |

I haven't heard. I can't run the radar back far enough to see. I did see a total precipitation graphic though and that area looked like it got between 1.5-2" of rain from this storm system, along with most of the areas in the central third (from west to east) of the state between the state lines (north and south) getting roughly the same amount. _________________ ~ Dan |

Radar indicated that a tornado touched down in East Glastonbury, said FOX CT meteorologist Joe Furey. Wind speeds of about 100 mph were reported in town. A tornado touchdown was confirmed on Long Island on Friday evening as the same storm roared through, Furey said.
That's from the Hartford Courant website. Also reports of multiple downed trees and power lines. _________________ ~ Dan |

Evidently there was a lot of storm damage from Glastonbury to Vernon. A team from the National Weather service will be surveying the damage today to determine if an actual tornado touched down. Here in Meriden my rain gauge shows1.14 inches of rain, very little wind and only a few clasps of thunder. So we got the needed rain without the violent weather. |

When I was keeping an eye on the radar yesterday and had it in motion, I saw what looked like one of those bow echos and it took a path from areas around Glastonbury to southern Vernon before dying. It had the perfect shape. |
