I have been reading these forums for a few weeks now so I figured I would sign up. I recently got back into fishing this summer after not doing it for about ten years. I fished a lot as a boy with my grandfather, and from ages 10 - 13 I would go saltwater fishing on my family's boat almost every weekend. I do miss those stripers.
Now I just fish freshwater, got my first decent rod and reel recently and have been fishing every chance I get. Mostly ponds in northwest CT, eastern CT, wherever I don't need a boat. Because I don't have one. Hoping to get one for next season.
I might start rambling here, but I feel like today's culture/society puts a big emphasis on instant gratification. I guess the main reason I enjoy fishing is because it's the complete opposite. I will fish for six hours and not get a bite, and that's just fine with me.
