I decided to head out to my usual spot on the river where I've had some past success. After getting there at about 6:15, I began bottom fishing with nightcrawlers, as usual, and I caught a smallmouth bass after just 5 minutes. Over the next two and a half hours, I caught 1 more smallie, a white perch, 2 alewives, and 9 channel cats. (Don't be impressed by the channel cats, as they were all around 1 pound.) However, the last cat I caught was on my last small shred of worm, and it was the biggest one of the day, at 2 pounds. So to sum it up, lots of action, but all small fish!

hows the water level since the rain? A couple of weeks ago you could almost walk across the river under Rt 91 in EW/ WL area.

Its actually a little better. There's a ridge in the middle of the river where i fish that is submerged when the level is normal, and it is just barely visible now. On July 12th i was there and like you said, it was almost as if you could walk across the river. All of the snags near shore that were usual under by a few feet were out of the water.
