My son and I hit up McD looking for smallies. Spent most of the morning sweltering in the sun dropshoting from 15 to 30 FOW. All we could muster was some shorts, rockbass and and few bluegills. We gave up and headed to a grass flat just before lunch looking for LMB's. I got one 2 pound on the CR and it seemed dead there as well. When all else fails I started chucking crank-baits to vent a little. Well looky what whacked it! A bullhead, Really??
It did turn on a switch though. We went to shore and had lunch. Rigged a few deep cranks on the rods and headed back out. My son got this guy in 20 FOW using a DD22. 18-3/4"long x 11" girth. 2.67 on our scale
I got this old timer using a DT 10 in 15 FOW with the rod stuck in the water so the lure was just nicking the bottom(I need to get some DT-14's). 21" long weight 3.32 Should have went much more, But he looked very old. Skinny as a rail, But massive head and a mouth big enough to put my fist in. Poor old fella!
All in all a good day, Once we figure they wanted lures with more action. We boated several decent fish over 2 pounds. But still can't figure out why they don't want dropshots, But will chase down a CB and smack the crap out of it? _________________ PB LMB 9.3LBS Winchester Lake

ya bullies can be a funny fish . Im with michael this time ive also rapalaed a few, earlyer this year mate of mine and I at Salmon river the little pond it makes at the end where chukin raps for pike big 6 in jointed type and kept nailing cats 1 after the other.
McD can be a real hard fish in brite sun the water is so clear light cuts right through it until I get some kind of electroncs on the boat I think McD will be a cloudy day lake for me but even though with fish or no fish its a great place for a quiet float . _________________ I Love to fish......Not a big fan of sitting in the boat alone ....the Conversation and the company make it perfect |

It was so hot out there, We didn't see much wild life. The wild life was in the rental boats hooting and hollering. Some yelling and screaming too! So much for a peaceful day on the water! We did see a few get scolded for swimming by the MDC police. Pretty sure one group was sent home early for doing it! That made my day!
I much prefer the hooting and hollering of a fisher-person getting a good fish! _________________ PB LMB 9.3LBS Winchester Lake
