I think that the largemouth bass in most lakes around here have been suffering from heat stress, too:

It is a handsome storm, the lady and I are going to hit the CT River in just a few once its past. (Im 8 minutes from it)

I have been noticing something about the LMB's and they way they've been eating and I think it may be linked to the heat stress your speaking of.

Most times I catch a three pounder it slams my line like a freight train, practically hooks itself. But lately (the last month) Ive been getting a three pack of nibbles, like a tiny sunny or something. And then instead of getting a big action out of the pole, you can watch the line very very slowly start pulling away from me.

Its not until you "set the hook" that you start to see the fish take action and try running, pulling on the drag and what not. More times than not lately too, once the fish gets within a few feet of shore it lets go.

Its like the fish is just picking up the lure (Gary Yam. Senkos) and bringing it to deeper water to eat it or something. Its not getting my hook in its mouth, its just holding on to the tail of the bait. And once it gets up shallow its just like, "Nah", and lets go.

A lot like catching a bass pre-spawn season when the waters still real cold. But in reverse, instead of a hard bite and no fight, its like little bite and gone.

Mildly aggravating . . . Hopefully this cold rain wakes them up a bit!
