I havnt posted many reports as of late BUT, since I was extremely excited and proud, I wanted to post this.

After meeting up with my son and his uncles at a local res, we fished for a short time with no luck.

Since I had cauht a couple fish over a weed covered pond the day before, I figured I ask them if they wanted to try some top water weed action.

We fished for a good 20 minutes +/- with only a couple of hits but, no takers.
( around the same area I fished the day before )

My son moves closer to me in a hard area to fish, tree limps left right and above.
I told him to move back where he was and keep trying.

I start to do my own thing casting my hollow body frog

My sons cast his rage tail frog 2 - 3 times when I hear his uncle yell thats a big one, I look left and see a huge swirl 10 - 15 yards out.
. My son's pulling is rod back as if he has a shark the drag screaming here and there.
He asks for help and tells us its too hard to reel ( we made him do it on his own =P )
Eventually he pulls this LMB through THICK weeds, trust me idk how he did it.
He put every bit of energy into getting this fish in..

5.4 His biggest fish ever.

I forgot to add.

I released the fish 10 feet to the right of where he caught it.
The water was deeper on shoer and I wanted to try to put some energy /oxygen back into the fish by moving it forward and back.

I released the lip of the bass and thought it swam out

So I continue to fish in the spot i released his bass at, caught nothing.

I move away and his uncle goes to the spot i was previoulsy in.
He bends down and says check out what I found, I figured maybe I looked passed a lure.
Nope, my sons fish swam between two rocks and I guess was just sitting there idle.

He scoops it up shows us the fish..
His uncle puts it back in the water and THIS time it swam away..

That's awesome. Glad you let him do it himself, probably a moment he won't ever forget.

I should have recorded him fighting it lol

I think he enjoyed / appreciated it 10x more than he would have if I fought it in and who knows I could have lost the fish on the way in.

I was as happy for him as I would if I caught the fish, i just kept talking about it forwarding the picture to everyone =P

His second largest was about 3lbs!

Now I could just get him to lip bass!

Maybe I'll bring a glove or some thing so that he wont worry about the teeth

We went back there and couldnt keep a bass on the line..
We missed 4 big largemouth 5lb +
Each one of those fish you could see at least half the body come out of the water!!!
