Saterday afternoon with Angryjohn decided to head out to a new waters Cedar lake in Chester got there 1:30 pm found it to be a nice lake 65 acers with a ymca camp at 1 end some cottages on west side, long treeline to the east. For you weed poopers types theres some large foating pad areas spotting the shore pretty much here and there all around the lake.
theres submerged coontail with a sharp well defined edge mud/sand bottom water temp was in the high 70s like walkin in a bathwater.
We stared workin waky rigged worm right off the launch hooded up fast first 10-15 min there (watermelon / red flake dingers)
I worked a few different lurers rapalas , cranks ,spinners took hitts on all of them couldnt manage to get a hook to stix all day john worked the waky pretty much all day.
John caught about 12-15 fish all in the same range except 1 he lost that spit hook right at the boat in the 4-5 lb range. I allso lost 1 about the same size later in the day workin a frog acrost the pads when I failed to get a good set so there are some decent fish here to be had.
I on the other hand took 1/2 doz hits or so non made it to the boat I guess my timeing was off what ever it was just 1 of them days.
One thing we did notice we where fishing side by side same water same rig except for line dia. he was useing 8 lb test im useing 12 lb both clear line I would fish a spot for 5-10 min not a bite he would cast in right after me an bang a hook up in seconds only differance was the line.
Warning note:
On the lake if your under power keep a sharp eye out for swimmers ppl from the cottages where swimming out in the middle no makers or floats in the wind chop they can be real hard to see........
Another great day of fishing .....................Thanks for the day out John _________________ I Love to fish......Not a big fan of sitting in the boat alone ....the Conversation and the company make it perfect |
