What is the best time to go fishing? I've heard that early morning and dusk are the absolute best, but i wanted some of your opinions. |

Spring is when temps are cooler than summer and bass are either in pre-spawn or spawning or waking up from ice out with the water temps warming up. That means they're more active in the morning and afternoon once the sun gets higher.
In the summer the water is much warmer and bass are in post spawn. They are more active in the later afternoon into the night, unless there's some powerful system on its way. Other times during the day they're deeper where the water is cooler. |

There are soluner charts that reference the best or peek times. Along with location(what Michael said) it will increase your chances. I try to hit the major/peek times as much as I can. _________________ PB LMB 9.3LBS Winchester Lake

I've checked the Solunar Calendar after good outings and have never seen a correlation, so I'm still skeptical of it. But anything that gets you out fishing is a good thing. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Not saying I won't fish a weak day, We fish every possible chance we can squeeze in, as long as we can spend more than a couple of hours out there.
The times aren't always spot on(couple hours before or after), But the Strong days usually yield the larger fish for me. Over the years the new moon cycle has been my best chance to land the big dogs what I have seen. I look forward to them, Maybe that makes me more confident or fish a bit different?
Another is weather fronts. Just before a cold front passes through can be killer. And before/after a thunderstorm. I definitely won't pass on overcast/rainy days either.
I often check the barometric pressure as well. To low or to high usually means a slow day. Catch a peak day with good barometric pressure. Usually gets some decent fish in the well.

Here is an article from a popular magazine the OP might get some tips from. Its a good read on a rainy day.
