what a difference day and evening is! My wife came up with me tonight after dinner.. we got there around 7pm or so.... I started in the cove to the left of the boat launch again... waded in ... I was using a 2 inch mister twister white curly tail grub on an 1/8 oz jig head. I immediately caught a small LMB.. about hand lenght.... a few minutes later I caught another one.. a little bigger maybe 10-12 inches.... It was getting dark quick so I moved ... went to the launch and handicap dock for a few minutes.... no luck... drove down to mashapaug boat launch, 2 girls and a baby were on the cement dock.. so we went back to one of the bigger picnic areas... got a drink from the pump... went down to an area that is sort of barren but has shallow lilly pads to the left and deeper lilly pads to the right... fan fished that area.. again about waist deep in water..nothing on the shallow lilly side... casted towards the edge of the deeper lilly pads on the right and caught a nice bass there!! maybe a 1.5lbs!! that again, with the white mister twister.... starting to get even darker, I switched to a firetiger rapala ssr shallow... a couple of casts, let it sit.. I casted kind of straight out... a quick tug and a slow hit... wasn't sure what it was .. at first it wasn't putting up a fight but it ended up being a 2.5 LMB!!! I had to walk to the real shallow part of the water so I could balance my self easier...I haven't caught 4 fish at bigelow in, well, YEARS! Now I know to got towards the evening and not at noon.. I will try early morning one time soon also...
One sad thing though... When I was on the handi cap deck there were cigarette butts all over the deck and in the water.... People smoke, I get it but can't they pick up after themselves?
I did make it to the launch and casted there for a few minutes until a boat was coming in then a DEEP truck I think with a uniformed person and a guy in khakis and a black shirt went immediately to this boat. Couldn't figure out what was going on...maybe someone called on them?
