I've been fishing the river, mostly Keeney because its free, but I've made the trip to white oaks a few times too, white oaks is nearly impossible to get into right now unless your willing to jump out and pull your small boat over the sandbar Wink Most of the fish have been decent in the 2-3lb range with a few 4s in the mix as well as some dinks Cool The better fish are coming on jigs, senkos, swimbaits, and spinnerbaits Cool Heres a few pics !

I noticed you have a boat with just a trolling motor, how is it out there? Where do you launch?

I have a 12 ' jon boat right now with just a trolling motor and i've wanted to launch in the CT river and hit some coves. I appreciate it!

And nice bass!

I have a 6hp gas motor as well, you can fish the coves with just a trolling motor, i wouldnt go in the main river without a gas engine tho:wink: -Dan

Yea i didn't plan on that. I'm looking at gas engines right now, looking for around a 6 hp engine. Where did you launch for Keeney Cove? Is there a spot where i could carry my boat in? I haven't fished keeney much, more white oak, wethersfield, or cromwell. Thanks again

Point Rd. in Glastonbury, the launch on your left will bring you to the river, the launch on the right will bring you to the backside of the cove under the Rt.3 bridge

No inspection needed, but your boat would have to be properly registered somewhere. You should have the paperwork with you. Since you plan to fish, you must get a Connecticut fishing license. Here are links to the 2012 Connecticut Boater's Guide and the 2012 Connecticut Angler's Guide:

http://www.ct.gov/dep/lib/dep/boating/boating_guide/boaterguide.pdf
http://www.eregulations.com/connecticut/fishing/

They include all of the information you'd need. Good luck!
