My friend caught this on a local pond when he was using a 3'' bass colored rapala (i think its a JR). This bluegill jumped out of the water for this lure! The length from the tip of my finger to the scar on my wrist is 10 inches and this bluegill is a little bigger (I measured at 13''). The girth was 13'' too! I think to find the weight of a sunfish is the lengthxlengthxlength divided by 1200. If this is true then this bluegill weighed 1.83lbs! I believe that is 1lb and 13ounces (or 1lb 3ounces depending if i did the calculations correctly)! I've seen pumpkinseeds in this pond a little smaller than this bluegill so im thinking there are some ct record panfish in this pond! My scale is on its way from amazon and i wont have to use these equations where many factors can play in.

Do you guys think it is 1lb 3ounces or 1lb 13ounces? And the length of the line running from one side of my hand to the other is 3 1/2inches. The tip of my thumb to the other side of my hand is 6 1/2 inches.

That's a bull!!! Nice catch by your buddy!!! Must have fought like a 2 pound bass.

I did an online calc and the same weight came up

8/10 X 16/16= 128/160= 12.8oz

Bullgills in smaller ponds that hardly get pressured put up a fight of a lifetime.
