Decided to hit up Hanover Pond on my way home from work today. I brought a senko rod and a spinnerbait rod with me but quickly found that this is a froggin' pond. So I headed back to the car and tied on a zoom horny toad. My first cast I had a bass swipe at the bait but it missed. The second cast (at the same fish) the fish gulped the frog and took it down. I waited and set the hook but I think the fish was too small to get the hook. I made my way around the pond throwing the frog and about 15min later I landed a keeper largemouth.
My first one this year on a frog. I took a few more casts but it was time to head home. At least I got something. |

What type of frog dawg? I've had great success on soft ones with paddle feet. Very weedless with a 4/0 scerw lock hook, though I find you need to work the hook up and through a few times cause they're a little stiff and thick for a good set. _________________ Dave..... Zoom horny toad which has the paddle feet. I think it was a 4/0 EWG hook I was using. Not sure though. |

The weeds are pretty much filling in all over. Not exactly sure of the area you are talking about since it was my first time there. I fished from shore along the area where the fields are. The only place I didn't see weeds on top is where the river was flowing into the pond under the bridge. Good luck out there. |

ya over near the tennis courts where they launch boats theres a dam at that end across from that on far side you will see wood pile along the steap bank
not fishable from shore but ive done well there from a boat. Sounds like you where at the other end of pond that end weeds up pretty quick _________________ I Love to fish......Not a big fan of sitting in the boat alone ....the Conversation and the company make it perfect |

Live right above the pond. Definitely a frog place. The bank by the parking lot gets fished to death. I throw in my canoe and catch a ton of bass. Biggest was a bit over 6lbs., but most are 1-2. It's really shallow with a few deeper parts along some of the banks. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.

I fished there once back around spawn and caught 5 bass in like 20 minutes throwing green senkos w/ black and red flake. The second i ran out of that color i couldn't catch anything for the life of me. 2 were dinks, one was over a pound, and the other were on the high side of 2#. Fun little pond with some decent shore access. |

I walked the whole shoreline from the tennis court area to the other side where the baseball fields are. I definitely want to get in there with the yak one of these days. |

This pond is right down the river from me, so I drop by pretty often to throw in a line. It's good early season for bass as it is shallow, and by summer is full of slime. Still decent for throwing frogs, which is what I was doing tonight as a storm rolled in. Only had about 20 minutes to work the west bank (heavily fished all season). After a few dozen casts of my green pumpkin frog with nothing, a bolt of lightning anounced the end of the evening. I threw out my last Hail Mary cast and saw a boil and wake about six feet away and heading towards it. Gave it a twitch and my line was heading sideways. Set the hook and hauled in a nice fat bass with about 5lbs. of slime as well.
