caught this guy fishing off a beach in Rhode Island. This is my first striper, it was keeper size and a little over 14 pounds.

Every time I go to Misquamicut state beach and go swimming I see loads of stripers swimming right around my feet. No matter if its dead low tide or high tide I have seen everything from schoolie size to fish around 35 inches. I've been dying to find a spot near there and try it.

Congrats and thanks, you just reminded me of my first striper, 40 years ago. I was fishing at the end of the Hammonasset rock jetty just at daybreak. I was casting a popper into the rip out front when bang a stirper came up and whacked it. After a nice fight and tricky jockying around on the rocks I hauled in a 16 lb. striper....my first. All the walk back to my car people stopped to look at it and ask questions. I felt like I was 10 feet tall. Since then I've caught many stripers to 47 inches and 42 lbs. but that one was always my best. Enjoy the memories.

I agree with the poster on here that said " ever hook a blue". If you hook a nice sized blue pound for pound blues kick their arse!!!! Heck actually a 10 lb blue will kick a 20 lb stripers arse. The only thing is blues done get to 91 lbs!!!! LOL
