Started by the benches tonight due to the fact the dam area was packed... I changed up a bit and brought my whole box with me... I was using a white mister twister curly tail grub on a 1/8 oz jig head. I caught one bass from the first bench, not very big maybe 10-12 inches. I waded in up to my waist so I could cast farther... I eventually made it to the dam area after people started clearing out. I went to the bench between the spillway and cylindrical thing and retreived my 3/16oz firetiger ssr rapala I had lost a couple days ago.. went right in and got it in about 3 feet of water, it was stuck on a rock. The dam is rip rap I guess is the term and if you fish this area do NOT bottom fish or use jigs, or deep crankbaits, you will get snagged. I went over to the spill way, walked in and casted towards overhanging tree branches and lost 2 nice jumping fish... again, a good 5-6 feet in the water made my casts even more effective. Lots of topwater action, mostly sunfish I think attacking bugs on the surface.. I bet fly fisherman would do well here.
Stopped at Saulters on the way home but it was real dark and I was catching weeds from the bottom of the pond.
That's all I got. Good night. |
