After getting home from West Haven after 2am and still up doing things around 4am, I decided to head out to Twin Brooks Park.
Got there around 7am and started off at the cove of the main pond. Played around with a brown trout Jointed J-7, purpledecent Shallow Shad Rap SSR-7, firetiger Clackin Minnow CNM-7, brown trout X-Rap XR-6, and Creme worm. Did catch a largemouth under a pound with the SSR-7.
Moved on to other areas of that pond. Hit a 15" pickerel at the smaller cove by the island with the J-7.
Moved over to the pond with the gazebo. Saw some swirling in the shallow weeds at the southern end of that pond. Tried throwing a Tiny Torpedo and Pop-R but no luck. Next I did some subsurface twitching and gliding with the Creme worm which got me an 18" 1 1/2 pound pickerel.
Nothing else was interested so I moved on to the upper part of the pond on the right. Had bass following the SSR-7 and lost one on it.
Moved over to the wall along the edge of the main pond and to the cove where the water drains out but no fish.
Threw the SSR-7 at the cove of the larger pond where 2 brooks feed in. Got 3 largemouths up to 13" 1 pound.
Continued along that pond with the SSR-7 but didn't get into anything else.
Stopped at the small hidden pond and caught a largemouth under a pound.
Last stop was the Pequonnock over by the entrance bridge. Saw a few bass lurking around and also noticed a nice trout. Tried playing with the trout and bass. The 5 main lures they showed interest in were the SSR-7, XR-6, J-7, Creme worm, and a 1 1/2" soft plastic crayfish. The only one that the trout picked up was the worm. All others it would either chase or circle around before leaving. Bass were the same way.
Once I left there I made a quick stop at one of the small ponds. Hit a 1 1/2 pound largemouth there with the SSR-7.
On the way back home I made a quick stop at the Wonderland of Ice and Glenwood Park. Didn't see much as for bass. Tons of aggressive redbreasts and also saw a few channel cats in deeper areas at the wonderland of ice. Even saw 3 dinky stripers up farther at the Wonderland of Ice on the Pequonnock.
Looked at the Pequonnock at Glenwood Park and counted 13 carp in 1 school!!!! Even more in the tunnel! Redbreasts were filled in another area with hardly any bass.
Got home around 2pm |

Nice report Mike. Sounds like you had a good day. I never have, but have you ever gone after those carp? _________________ Dave..... I can be a pain in the bass. |
