I apologize in advance Im typing this with bajd aids on my fingers mostly unrelated to fishing.

My friend just bought a 1 foot aluminum boat with a trolling motor. He asked me to plan a trip. So neither he nor I had ever ben to Winchester. I was really intrigued by the variety of species they have and I really still am wanting to catch my frist pike.

I had morning clients so we leftNorwalk around 10am, got on the water arond 12. It was not nearly as hot as I thought it might be. There was a strong wind coming across the water at abot 15mp though at times possibly harder. It was blowing in toward the put in. There was a guy shore fishing from the dam wall, so we started on the east shore if the put in is south.

We just kept hitting laydowns and got small hits. I was using 5 inch green pumkin Yum Dinger, and he was using a brownish tube.We hit he first little island an still nothing but misses. Once we passed the little island we continued to hit the shore. Finally I pulled a decent little bass from the edge of some lillypads, and then shortly after another one.

Soon as I made sure to have gotten some fish,I switched over to my new baitcaster. $99 dollar Fishoflage fom Sports Authority. My first rel baitcaster. I had a 20% off coupon, plus a $40 gift card I had gotten from the parents of my daughter's soccer team. Ig sure was a nice gesture and makes missing fishing time ok. Anyay back to fishing. I was uing a 1 ounce double bladed chartreause spinnerbait. This is the first year I have used and actually caught anything on a spinnerbait. I got another one from theshore pretty much soon as I went to it.

Things really slowed down now as the sun was really beating down on us. We hit some of the coves with lilly pad. I had a gigantic hit on my worm, but it either missjudged badly or t got spooked as it missed by a good foot or two. We putzed around hitting coves and lilly pads.

We made our way to this cool stump field at the far side of the lake. I threw a Strike King KVD square billed Firetiger crankbait and got a strike right away but lost it. I went back to the spinnerbait and got a couple more bass.My friend caught his first rock bass, and finally his first fish of the day.

We hit a large cove off to the left of the stumpfield but all the way n the back. We did not catch anything. So we just made a move. As we moved I threw the crankbait back out but trolled it and got a perch. Then worked the shore again only catching my first and only birdsnest of the day when my friend hit my rod as I casted.

We then hit the west shorline again assuming the put in is south. Some big splashes were seen and heard. I kept getting bass on the spnnerbait. My friend got real frustrated I was catching so many I could tell so I slowed down. He then tied on a beetle spin and caught a pumpkinseed, two more rock ass, and some small bass.

We then trolled out in the middle . I was hoping to pull a pike out of the depths but nothing. My friend trolled a really little craw crankbait and caught a couple more bass, a perch, and a crappie.

The sun started to drop and we kept catching fish. Then around 7:30 the bite turned off even though we could still see fish activity. We headed to the putinan I caste one more time toward the dam, since I saw some fish jumping and got my last bassof the day.

Considering the heat e did very well. I ended up with 10 bass and one perch, he caught 3 rock bass, a bluegill, a crappie, and about 5 small bass. Next time I o I hope it is not so hot and I actually catch my first pike. Again apologize for the tying due to my cut up fingers

Nice report and good to hear you had a good day out there. Winchester(should be called WINDchester) can be really tough water somedays.

Hope the fingers heal quickly!
