Good day at Saltonstall today. Got out at 6:30am. Had to hunker down in a cove while a thunderstorm passed by....
Had my first fish on a carolina rigged 9" trigger-x hammerworm. Got one more on that. 2 on a shakey head with a zoom trick worm, 1 on a drop shot with a small fluke (plus 3 crappie, had to stop using the DS because the crappie were hitting it so much) And 2 (including the biggest of the day) on a frog in the hydrilla mats.
All fish (besides the frogs) were on outside of weedline in about 15-20 ft of water.
They were hammering the frog at about noon. I landed 2 but had several blowups. They were turning the thing inside out. I have to get a new one now because it sinks from so much abuse.
Also went out with mikejiggen on Tues and did pretty good. Shakeyheads & frogs were the pattern that day although mike got a nice one on a paddletail swimbait early.
I still cant seem to get a 5lb fish! They were all between 2-4lbs with one dink who NAILED my frog much harder than the bigger one.
Saw several schools of baitfish with birds diving, fish breaking the water.. Hard to chase them with a trolling motor. Threw a fluke and a swimbait in the general vicinity but nothing. I dont like fishing open water but they were sure eatin shad today.
Here are some pics. I really need a partner to take pics for me. They NEVER look as big when I take the photos
