Ok so maybe I have just overlooked this, but I was speaking to one of my counterparts at work and he told me this today....
A friend of his just recently got a permit to do business on Highland Lake. Not really sure of the logistics of it, but he will be selling food (I am assuming hot dogs and stuff like that) from a boat. He will be driving around on his boat and selling to people on the water.
Some towns are more strict than others so I am assuming that it's different in each town. But why not do this for the bigger lakes like Candlewood or any high traffic lake on the weekends? Even on the weekends it must be a nice money maker on the side. I would figure even if it was bait instead of food, you could make something decent. Bantam is a nice place to do it, but based on how the Town of Morris is that's probably a no go...I would never be able to do it with my schedule and how busy I am at work - but for someone who is retired or has spare time seems pretty interesting.... _________________ Steve |

Wow, that's an interesting idea Steve. I'd say let's wait and see how the guy does first. But your right, Bantam,Candlewood,Zoar, etc any of the bigger lakes should work. Hell there's a few lakes in Mass that have restaurants on them, like pizza houses, bars etc. Why not a floating roach coach? |

Hi,
They have and it is the biggest hassel you can ever belive
Vendors Lic.
Propane for cooking.
Food, drink, and other supplies.
Ice to keep everything cold.
Gas for outboard + trailering.
All the labor involved (loading and unloading)!
Then there's the Wx and speedsters rocking the boat.
He'll find out how inpractable it is and what very little money he'll make!

Last year, I saw a hot dog boat working the Connecticut River near East Haddam. I wish that I had paddled over to check it out. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Many places will deliver your food right to the boat launch if you give them an address. _________________ Kira

There's an ice cream boat on Ossipee Lake in New Hampshire. _________________ Catch and release only.

there used to be another food boat out on Highland a few years back
lasted maybe a summer and that was it...90% of the boat traffic on highland is from people who already have houses or cottages on the lake....cant see them stopping at a boat when they have a fully stocked kitchen |

Even if people don't live on the lake they tend to bring coolers with drinks and food IME. I'm sure they'll get business but most likely not enough to be very profitable. |

Hi DD,
Yeap! I said that also.
Or as Kira said ......order out and have it delivered!
And if you bring it with you -> as Phil and others have said before -> take the garbage back with you and dispose of it properly!

On candlewood i got some icecream off this pontoon called the ice cream float. The owner has absolutely no competition. Itd probably be a great buisness. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

Well anything done correctly can succeed, but most of the time people don't put in the effort to succeed. I think it's a pretty cool idea though. |
