Just got a kayak yesterday. I'm going to fish the reservoirs this afternoon. Probably number 4. I was going to do the tournament at saltonstal today but I ended up not being able to go so I'll post back later about the reservoir.

I ended up trying out the seymour res yesterday for the first time. Not many places you can reach from shore. Lost some gear in the trees. But, got my biggest bass of the season at about 3.5-4 lbs. He was a fighter too. Nothing else aside from some tiny catfish (bullhead?) but that one bass was nice.

Im hitting the #4 res and picking up micro bullheads. Does somebody have a tip on what I'm missing

You're fishing the wrong one. Do you have a kayak or canoe? Drag it to number 2 or 3 and fish those. If you dont fish #2 there's two decent size beaver dams along the shoreline you can get to that hold decent size fish. Stick with squarebill cranks bounced off any piece of cover you can find or jigs worked deeper.

So yeah I went to #4. I brought the arsenal: cranks, jigs, live crawlers, meal worms and even my favorite power lizard went un noticed in what looked to be idea hang outs. I use canoes and kayaks. depends on mood company. I like the extra room of the canoe. Its a big red old town tripper that is hard to beat besides speed. I think I will be at 2or 3 in the near future

I made it to #2 for the first time today. Fished a circle tour of 3 and got nothing but a little 2-3 inch baby bass (check the personal worst thread).

Hiked over to #2 and fished off that jetty where the water feeds in, and got two really nice sized bass. One was just under 2.5 lb and the other was just over 3. I had a hell of a time pulling both of them through that ultra shallow bedding area to where I was sitting. I was pretty much dragging the fish through the mud with the top inch sticking out of the water. They did not like it and fought like hell to get back to water they actually fit in, lol. Definitely going to skip right to #2 next time, cause I haven't gotten anything more than 1-2 lbs out of #3 so far. Both were caught on wacky rigged worms, first a Kinami green w/ black flake and second was a Yum Dinger blue on top green on bottom with a nice fade in.

Good thing I had my boots on though cause after that rain the ground was total mush.

And the hike back from number 2 was pretty exhausting.

Has anyone fished #1? Haven't heard a thing about it, but I've landed bass in the other three so I'm bound to try it soon.

Also, the biggest bass I've gotten out of any of them was a 4 pounder out of #4. This was before I picked up the scale, so I'm not sure on the exact weight, but 4 lbs feels like a conservative estimate.

Yeah, but that was also the only one i pulled out of there in a few trips. After last night i think im gonna start spending more time at 2. And the hike is some good excersize too.

Dragged my kayak down to reservoir 2 this afternoon. Didn't catch anything then realized I had a slow leak in my kayak. As I was walking back to the car bummed out I decided to cast a few times into reservoir 1. On my third cast I pulled out a 3.5 lb largemouth. I weighed it and it was exactly 3.5 lbs. caught it on a spinnerbait. I'll get a pic up soon.

I think i saw you there. I tried fishing the back end (east side) of res 2 yesterday. I think you were launching right after i got there. Back end was rough, no shore access and no good fishing spots. Felt like a waste of an hour or two walking around.

On the north side i tried fishing off a few beaver damns and hooked into two big largemouths. One straight off snapped the line, but it felt really big. The second i almost landed, looked about 4 lbs+, but it swam in a loop around a branch and snapped the line. Never fishing off a beaver damn again. I got a third off of the delta by the feeder stream, but he jumped and spit the hook. Looked to be a good size.

Only fish i landed was a little yellow perch out of #1.

Bummer on the leaky new yak J. Just research the material and the fix and get back out there. In a pinch, marine 5200 sticks to anything with a 24 hour cure time as long as the surface is dry. Good luck.
