Just posted this in another thread but I though it was an Interesting article on the impact of the "catch & release" mentality of bass fishermen.

http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/catch_and_release_bass.html

I dont keep fish I catch. Even if I started to to "help" the population, who eats bass? Im not going to keep it and throw it away. Do they make good pets? hmmmm. then I could try all the new plastics that come out on him....

That was a very interesting article. I'd need more convincing about the memory side of it, although it seems logical enough. I definitely believe that the overcrowding and available food source issues is real enough, as well as how it pertains to growth rates, stunting, etc.

What I have to remind myself of is that there are a lot of people out there beyond this board that fish and they also may be keeping everything that they catch or the flip side, releasing all that they catch.

Therefore, I guess the continued monitoring of the resource here in our state is money well spent to provide the sport we have a common interest in.

By the way, bass is a great tasting fish, big or small!
