I was thinking that looks bigger as well.

I need to get a scale. I estimate weight a lot and my estimated 5lb bass did not look that big. She was about 20" long and heavy but in the picture I took she doesnt look that impressive.

That is a great fish. I would be pumped. 5 lbs is a big bass for around here...an actual 5lb bass, not "she was at least 5lbs by the look of her" bass.

Maybe mine was 4 and change ; )

After reading this post yesterday I grabbed my kayak and went to great hill res for the first time. Caught like 7 largemouth in about an hour and a half. My biggest was probably 2.5 lbs. the rest were like 1 to 1.5 lbs. definitely a fun spot though can't wait to go back.

Do you need any special permit to go there? I dont have a boat so I have to fish from shore and my area is short on lakes in general. Thats not too bad a ride for me, is there good shore fishing spots?

Thanks

There were no postings about not fishing there so I assumed it was cool. There were only a few shore spots and you gotta scrape through some mud and tons of long grass to get there, so I'd recommend long pants and hiking boots if you're gonna check it out. I went back on Sunday morning and managed to get 3 bass, all between 1-2 lbs. I laid eyes on one big largemouth, but he dissapeared as soon as I spotted him and I got no bites casting around where he was.

Right up the road is the Seymour Reservoirs and I've had a lot of fun fishing there from shore. It's off rt 42 in the Naugatuck State Forest and pretty easy to get to.
