Took an evening run around Mill Pond. Good action on wounded perch top water, and cranks, but they were all dinks.
It's a really nice pond/river system that ends up at a waterfall with a 15' basin rock ledge. My canoe is just a tad too big inside. It takes me about the first fish to have the whole place trashed with 3 rods, all my crap, and a traveling band of gypsy's.
Had a dozen fish night in the pound range with anything I threw. Where the river thins you can cast both sides. It's a fun paddle spot because you're not just out on the banks of a lake.
Got a little darker and started tossing frogs. I am sold on frogs!! Pads, open water, weed lines. My problem...I was trolling one and casting one. Bastards kept hitting the one that wasnt in my hand. I'm finding that frog hits are either rod doubles over in a bass out of the water blaze of glory.....or most of the time a little bump.....bump....done if you havent set it. The one time I had it right, I felt the little hit.....waited....and set on the next bump. I was near the ramp and was lucky to have someone to take a picture. 20" 4.6 lbs Nice chunk to end the night.
I went back out and delivered it to the spot I caught it at. I read something about bass not straying far from where they get deposited back to, and it being an issue at big tournys. Figured I'd paddle the extra 100 yards and put it back where I found it. _________________ Dave..... I can be a pain in the bass. |
