I was driving around looking for a spot to fish after getting scared off by an angry copperhead at the naugy and I came across Longhill Reservoir in the oxford area. Two casts after I found a spot I hooked onto something large. My drag was cranking and I could barely pull it in. Really exhilarating. After fighting for what seemed like 10 minutes I finally landed this bad boy
I know 5.3 lb probably isn't much for a lot of you out there, but aside from one other 3-4 lb'r most of the bass I've caught have been in the 1-2 lb range.
This guy came on a really big jointed lure that I've had since I was a kid and never caught anything on before. It's about 5-6 inches with a blue/white coloring. Seems almost like a stripper lure.
Aside from this big guy I pulled out 2 other largies that probably didn't even hit one lb and didn't seem worth weighing.
Edit: those pics were huge! |

Yeah, it was great hill. Nice catch. Seems like a really nice place for some bass. Based on the trail I took to get in, it's gotta be tricky getting a kayak into there. It was empty when I got there today aside from some kids jumping off the wall to go swimming. I'll have to try there again sometime soon cause it's not too far from where I live.
And yeah, I'll definitely be throwing that lure again soon. |

I never have a problem, I usually just park in that pull over and skip the trail and cut straight thru the woods dragging my kayak behind me right down the bank |

Yeaaaaaah........I'm thinking I'm not one of those guys that catch 5 pounders all that often. Nice efn fish!!! Any PB is so sweet. I dont care if it's a bluegill. The thing is, with picture's and scales and facebook for fishing, Joe shit the rag man feels like he has to apologize for catching a five MF'n pound bass. Thats a serious fish....and it doesnt matter if you took it out to dinner for three weeks before you spooned with it, or just stumbled across it. It's yours bubba. Nice catch!! _________________ Dave..... I can be a pain in the bass. |

nice job on the PB! Thats the biggest I've seen pulled from the res. this year! It seems like the average fish is getting smaller in there but its good to see some quality fish left!
