I caught my first SMB out of Burr Pond this week. It was less that 1/2 pound but fought like a 2 lb LMB. I'd really like to try targeting them, but don't know where to go. I live in Naugy but work in Torington, so does anyone know any good spots around the northern part of rt. 8 with decent shore access?

Also, any good tips on smallie targeting? I got the one on a 5 inch senko, which is my standard for LMB lately.

colebrook would be the best choice as far as shore action goes. when they drain some water down it really opens up the shore access. long rod, light floro line can only help. tubes and jigs and dropshot if you like.

I'd like to catch some smallies. Any good spots around New Haven? I've never caught one (that I can remember) at Saltonstall, seems like a good spot for them. Ive heard of guys catching them in the deeper holes with jigs/grubs.

Never caught on, but I'd love too. From what I've read and heard they put up a good fight.

There are actual a lot of smallies in the naugy river itself. They are not very big maybe 10inches but there are lots in that system. The upper housy has some nice smallies in but its way up river.

Mike - the entire Naugatuck River is loaded with SMB. My son and i caught 9 tonight in Derby about 1 mile north of the housy/Naugy Merger. Also Beacon Falls offers many good spots and I caught my first ever Smallie right there in Naugy at Lindon Park

A smallie out of Burr? That's gotta be one of the only smallies in there! I've fished Burr about 10 times since late May and all I've landed are 2-3lb LMB and some decent sized pickerel.. usually on senkos/lizards/spinners.

Hi,

REALLY Question A Smallie at Burr Shocked

I live near Burr and have fished it many times -> Never got a Smallie there!

For good Smallie action I'd recommend Colebrook Res. -> Lots of shoreline access !

Yeah, ive actually been fishing there a lot lately on my lunch break and havent hooked into another yet. The one i got was only 1/2 pound.

For the naugy in derby theres an ok spot along the walk down the rock bank. The water is like an obstical course but i pulled two out of there the one time i went, both around a pound.
