i live in Newtown AND FOR YEARS that was the place to catch BIG BASS! there used to be lots of lilly pads! about 4 years ago i went there early one morning and there were no pads! - HOWEVER it would seem like someone put carp in there?
the place was a mud hole! I NEVER WENT BACK! -- please let me kinow if the place has IMPROVED --- it was the best TOP WATER ACTION I EVER FOUND ANYWHERE!!!

I took a look at it today. Just went down to the dam and dock. I didn't see any pads and couldn't get a feeling of how deep it was. It certainly looked better than a "mud hole".

Well i went there with two of my friends. We threw 4'' yum dingers and didnt get one bite. Switched to twister tails and nothing. Then rapalas and top water baits but nothing. And lastly some keitech but nothing. Strange because another pond i fished yesterday had bass hopping out of the lake for these lures. The place didnt look that great unless you had a boat to use. We used worms on bobbers and got some sunfish but we werent to happy and went back to my buddys pond and caught some really nice golden shiners and some other bass, perch, and sunfish. Hattertown did look like carp territory. Nice and shallow, muddy bottom, and lots of tree cover. I doubt ill be back there again. Maybe if i use my kayak but id rather travel an extra five minutes for some better places to fish. Kinda sad about it because not many people go there and it was close to my house but maybe if those lily pads came back there would be fish. If that place stays like this then i doubt any fish will be pulled out of there.

Near shore you could see little plant leaves like the ones you see covering a pond that has tons of frogs in it. The pond looked really shallow max depth would probably be like 10 feet but we fished from the main dock area and to the left. I did see that cove you were talking about rvolkers but it didnt have much vegetation (few lily pads and some floating weeds). I think ill be there with my kayak sometime this month but if i get the same results then im done with the place. Im trying to look for a place with bass, catfish, trout, or pickerel (maybe some different panfish species) within 10 mins of newtown and this doesnt look like the spot.

The personal goal of every fisherman. To find that spot a few minutes from home that you get that warm fuzzy feeling about every time you head out on it. I have finally found it, and Im just doing back flips to get back out on the water.

I think this weather is making hard to get some fish. Water has cooled so some of the fish are heading deeper some shallower. Most of them are in the weeds where we cant reach on cast. Im thinking of maybe a trip with my kayak soon.
