I fished for about an hour mid-morning yesterday below the covered bridge in a deep pool. The river is very low and with the heat I imagine all the trout have sought out deep water. I used my flyrod and changed flies a number of times. I tied on one of my standbys , an olive woolly bugger. Immediately I caught a small brown. I was about ready to quit when I saw a large fish rush my fly from behind a rock. After a great fight I netted a 22 inch brown trout. My fly was far down its throat and stuck in a gill causing the fish to bleed profusely. I usually don't keep trout but I ddin't think the fish would survive so I took it home for the smoker. It was very warm even though I was wading. It felt great to take the waders off.

Yes The Comstock bridge, several hundred yards downstream, below Rt.16. With the low water the fish are very spooky .Fishing is very slow throughout the river. Lets hope they stock this week, last one of the spring season. With the water so low I wonder if they'll put the fish elsewhere.
