Got up extra early and hit the river for a few hours before work! Caught the last of the outgoing tide and was rewarded for my efforts with this nice 36 incher, which I caught while gliding a bucktail in the current over a drop off! Also had a few hit some topwater baits but none of those fish made it to the boat! Nice fishy looking morning to be out!

I always use a white bucktail with a red/white Uncle Josh pork rind trailer.
The whole key to using them effectively is to swim it near the bottom without hanging it up!! The strike zone with a bucktail is always within a foot or two from the bottom,..3-4 feet doesn't seem like much difference, but i'm telling you that they will not bite it up there!!
As, such, I carry them from 1/2 oz up to 2 ounces and use what it takes to be near the bottom depending on where you are fishing and how strong the current is! The stronger the current,..the heavier that you need to go,..today I was at 1.5 oz. _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."
