|
|
Hey everyone, I am headed to Lincoln, NH with the wife for memorial day weekend and its only an hour away from Lake Winni and Squam.
Is it worth the trip there seeing that I don't have a boat, never and really don't know what the fishery is like.
Anyone ever been there? _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

if you have never been to squam id highly reccomend it. you should be hitting it around the time they are bedding based on whats happening around here.
we stayed in a cabin at the southern end of little squam. did very well there the first day. day two and three were spent on big squam. Any and i mean any of the many reefs had fish on them when we were there. i literally went through bags of dropshot baits in those few days. its a smallie factory. lots of small fish but youll get some nice ones in the mix. Rattlesnake cove was very good for largemouth. went way back in there and found some nice 3 to 4lb largies one day. beautifull lake. by a map youll need it and pay strict attention to the marker buoys especially heading into rattlesnake cove. there are lots of marked reefs. hope this helps. |

with out a doubt, a great purchase. even with the map, you will find unmarked widowmakers in winni. be careful out there, and good luck. |

Just came back from Winnie last week. Fished the Moultonboro Bay area. Tons of fish already on beds. The Alton bay area had fish still out in deeper water but they should be on beds there by now. Squam is great also. You may want to check out Opeechie Bay. It is the lake that Winnie dumps into from Paugus Bay. It's an amazing place with huge largies and smallmouth and it doesn't have as many dangerous areas. Ya can't go wrong with any place up there right now. During the tournament my partner and I caught over 200 fish. _________________

What were you guys catching them with, I like to use spinners and Exas rigged soft plastics but I hear jigging works well sometimes... _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

While your there, check out Waukewan, it's a lake that feeds Winni, it's in Merideth, there is a nice campground there. The launch is a little tricky, but it's loaded with largies and smallies. We had a tourny there 2 years ago, every boat had full bags. It's a beautiful clear lake. Have fun anywhere up there. |

We were catching them off beds with tubes on football heads in 25 feet of water. It's not that much fun and you need a periscope with two guys to see them that deep.
Bring some gold Zara Spooks, gold Bomber Long A's, and a number 4 silver Blue Fox inline spinner. Any color tubes work great also. Fish around the islands. A great place to catch fish from shore is called Echo Harbor. There is a rocky point there with smallmouth all around it! Have fun _________________
